WHO WE ARE
We are a Navajo owned, family business that has provided guided jeep, hiking and camping tours into the canyon for over 60 years. We are Leander (Lee) Staley, DonVan (Don) Staley, great grandsons and Daniel Staley, grandson of Chauncey Neboiya, who began our tradition.
You may know us as De Chelly Tours, the name we have operated under for many years.
Our new name, Beauty Way Jeep Tours, is a new layer in our family tradition and gives clarity to our business name for your convenience.
For us, the Beauty Way, the Navajo way, is who we are and how we live.

We stand for:
• Integrity & Safety
• Meaningful experiences with Navajo people and land
• Sharing our Navajo culture, in The Beauty Way, with every interaction.
• Continuing our great grandfather Cahuncey’s tradition
It all started ….
with our great-grandfather Chauncey Neboyia, the first Navajo archeologist and the first Navajo man to guide tours in the Canyon de Chelly! Using horse and wagon and on foot during the 1940s Chauncey guided earlier anthropologists and archaeologists into the canyon. He was a respected cultural informant, interpreter, and helped with excavation or restoration and stabilization of archaeological sites. He also helped a lot of earlier authors, artists and young writers who did their dissertations on Canyon de Chelly National Monument. Chauncey lived his life to the fullest in Canyon de Chelly, sadly the beginning of 2006, came with his passing.
We continue the tradition in honor of Chauncey and our future generations!
A few of our longtime clients:
Harvard Appalachian College professor, Harvard Ayers, has been bringing groups of students to camp with our father, Daniel Staley, for over 20 years. Most recently, in March 2013, Daniel led a camping event on top of the canyon and led fireside talk and song inside his hogan.
Gary Tepfer, Photography Base Camp Workshops. Gary, a world renowned photographer (http://www.gtepfer.com) has brought groups of photographers to camp at our family site in the canyon for the last 25 years. Daniel and other family members lead the photographers on hikes and share the Navajo culture through story, song and other activities.
